Kathy Kanazawa Kathy grew up in a Quaker community next to Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, where her father was a professor. Her parents took her to square and folk dances there in the ‘50’s and ‘60’s. As a teenager, she attended a Quaker boarding school, and was very involved with the folkdance group, as a dancer and a teacher, dancing 3 or 4 times a week. She danced all during college, where she met Mark at Earlham, and has been dancing ever since, where ever they were living until settling in Minnesota. In Amherst, MA, and Stanford, CA, they were in performing groups together. Now, they drive up, almost weekly, to Tapestry, in Minneapolis, from Northfield, almost an hour away, for Friday night international dancing where she teaches occasionally. Kathy also keeps active by practicing Tai Chi, hiking (especially in Scotland), and enjoying the great outdoors. She works at a food co-op in Northfield but is currently very part time, and considering retirement with the birth of the first grandchild in August.
